On 25 August, 13 Chez Carlos members ventured to Palmares to play the 10-27 holes on a beautiful day for golf. The course itself was in excellent condition and although the general consensus of all was that the greens were quite lumpy and bumpy and made putting a hit and hope scenario, some great scores were carded. Christophe Balland managed 40 points for first place. Giang Chatelan put up 39 points for second place and also hit a solid shot to 10 feet for nearest the pin on hole #26. Jim Bradley also scored 39 points but the tie-break on the back 9 went to Giang with 21 compared to Jim's 17. Rough luck for Nick Coulson with 38 and Denis Chatelan with 37 to wind up with honourable mention and still having to dig into their own wallet at the end of the day to buy a beer after having great rounds. Our next adventure takes us to Morgado on 28 August and we have spots available so get registered and join us. See you there.
This is the first time we have visited Palmares to play golf. We played the Lagos and Praia courses. The Lagos 9 was a little wet in places but both 9's were fantastic. While some in our group did walk the course after the round everyone agreed that a buggy is recommended. Everyone in our group enjoyed the Palmares experience. The food afterward was also excellent.
