Having played this course now on a number of occasions I have always found it surprises me. It's unlike any other course in the Algarve. The first time I played it, I wanted to turn the car around just driving in. It looks wildly unplayable with its long, dropping fairways but once you are out there you find a course that engages from the first swing. Yes, there are a couple of high tees and blind fairway runs which you will discover require a little course knowledge to play. ( Here the club could help with better mapping at the tees). There are also some lovely little par threes, the fifth being 90 meters of fun, that require thought. This is a real golf course. It takes good course management and rewards risk. And it's fun to play. The staff are always pleasent,the fantastic clubhouse clean and well staffed. It's a joy to sit,overlooking the 18th green and enjoy the excellent food. Would it be my first choice on The Algarve? No. But would I come out for a fortnight and not want to play it? Certainly not.
