The Vale Do Lobo Royal course was very nice. It was tight in places and if you are a little wild off the tee, it may prove to be very penalizing. That being said, the layout was enjoyable and it proved a good challenge. Unfortunately when we played it was very wet as Portugal had encountered unprecedented rainfall so we can completely understand why it was a little wet. The facilities are very good, reception, changing rooms, putting green were all very good, but the driving range is restricted to a maximum of a 9 iron which is not great. The waiting staff were not very accommodating as we found ourselves asking 3 times for menus for food, but when we got the food, it was very tasty and filling. Overall the course was tricky, challenging and unfair at times, but as a resort or package course outside of the vilamoura courses, I would recommend it after the ocean course.
